Next, we remove the pinion bearing to gain access to the shim that controls pinion depth. This bolt-on collar helps us press the bearing out.
We now use the press to remove the bearing.
Here’s the pinion depth shim we were getting access to.
We begin removing the ring gear by unbolting it from the differential.
We use the gear puller to remove the carrier bearing from the differential case.
We flipped the differential over and removed the other carrier bearing.
