Tragically Awesome – TMB Fabrication’s #Winning Time Attack EG Civic
Sparco Circuit seat pictured in cabin from above
A Sparco Circuit seat helps keep Thruxton at the controls when he’s busy trying to smash records. A Status 5-point cam-lock harness helps keep him solidly strapped to the seat and IN the seat in case things go wrong.
TMB-spec 4-point EG Civic rollbar
TMB fabricated and TIGged a 4-point rollbar out of 1.5 by .108” DOM for the Civic just in case things go REALLY wrong.
Rollbar floor pad nestled into frame junction
TMB took their time with the design, nestling the foot pad of the rollbar right into the frame junction. If the bar were turned into a cage, this would be a great place to weld things into place.
Sueded Momo wheel
A sueded Momo wheel lets Thruxton point the car where it needs to go.
NRG adapter and extension
An NRG adapter is used to mate the Honda shaft to a TMB custom-fabricated extension that gets the wheel exactly where it needs to be.

The quick release came out of a Ferrari Challenge car, so Trucker made an adapter to mate the Ferrari mounting hub to the NRG splined base (which goes on the Honda shaft). Simple, right? Though the Civic doesn’t have power steering, has a relatively quick rack, has big front tires and higher caster, Booth reports the steering effort isn’t super high. Good planning and proper alignment of the wheel and seat definitely go a long way.
