Building a 650 hp Naturally Aspirated Drift Spec LS3 Part 2

The main cap cross bolts are run in and burnished down next.

The cross bolts are tightened down to their final torque.  If you did everything right, the crank will easily free spin with everything tight.

The pistons, piston pins, and rings were WPC treated for less friction and longer life.  We spun the rings on the pistons, arranged the gaps away from each other and pre-lubed them.  Before installing we had measured all of the rings end gaps and hand-set them to be equal by grinding the end to get the exact correct clearance. We also hung the pistons and installed the pin locks pre lubing the pins as we did so.

The rod bearings were installed on the rods and the rod caps and were given a covering of assembly lube.

We also applied engine oil to the cylinder walls to protect them during the initial start-up.

The ring compressor was slipped onto the pistons.
