Building a 650 hp Naturally Aspirated Drift Spec LS3 Part 2

The LS oil pump pickup is secured by a single bolt.  This can cause leaks on the suction side of the tube and a loss of oil pressure.  To fix this we used Improved Racings LS pickup tube brace/clamp PN EGM-500.  This uses two bolts to hold down the end of the pickup tube and apply solid pressure around the base of the pickup tube flange.

Next, we installed Sikky’s 350Z conversion oil pan to the engine’s bottom end. A not at this point is that when installing various pans and pickup combinations you should always verify that you have enough clearance around the pump pickup.  You want a minimum of 3/8″ from the pickup to anything that could block flow into it or you could have oil pressure issues.  We had to slightly modify one of the pans baffles to get more clearance.

The pan was bolted down in a cross pattern in several steps.

Next, the water pump was installed.

The Sikky 350Z motor mounts were installed.
